Each month, Go Green Park Ridge recognizes someone who's making an important impact on our environment. This month's Change Maker is Park Ridge First Ward Alderperson, John Moran. Here are a few words from John about his recent contributions to the environment:

As a member of the Park Ridge City Council for the past 8 years, there have been numerous environmentally focused initiatives that I have had the chance to support. I’m extremely proud of my record in support of the following efforts:
  • Creating the Bike Task Force
  • Creating the Sustainability T.F./Commission
  • Adopting SolSmart Efforts
  • Increasing Tree Planting Funding
  • Approving a Composting Franchise Agreement
  • Adding Hybrid Fleet Vehicles
  • Implementing Permeable Alleys
  • Implementing the Permeable Library Parking Lot
  • Implementing Elements of the Revised Bike Plan
As a lifelong Park Ridgian, it is amazing to see the city and the residents embrace these recent efforts. As a community we have begun to catch up with many of our neighbors that pioneered the way in sustainability. I wouldn’t say we are leading the way, but the progress we are making is significant and the financial benefits provided by many of these initiatives have created benefits for the city’s bottom line.

While the impact these efforts will have on our planet might not be quantifiable, the example we are setting for future leaders of our town is one of the most valuable elements of our recent efforts. The message I hope to pass on to these future leaders is that, whenever feasible, we need to do what is right for our planet, because every little bit helps, there are financial benefits involved and collectively we can make a difference.

Dear John,

which JOHN MORAN are you
III
Jr
Sr

I am Brian Mulcrone and took note of your name as a PR alderman, the town my spouse was raised in...

I am wondering if you are from lineage of:

the Judge John J Moran RIP, a lifelong friend of my late father Joseph R Mulcrone
AND
his wife, Rosemary Keenan Moran RIP, a lifelong friend and classmate of my late mother, Barbara Ann Lavelle Mulcrone,

They had a son JOHN J (Jack) Moran who raised his family on the south side of Park Ridge where he was an attorney like his dad;
Jack had two siblings I remember, his late sister ROSEMARY (who I wanna' recall went to the Immaculata High School in Chgo with the BVM nuns (just like her mother Rosemary and my mother Barbara had?

Young Jack ran for public office in Park Ridge as an alderman at the urging of the late PR Mayor MARTY BUTLER, who thought he would be a BETTER CANDIDATE than another whose political affiliation (REP) was the same as Marty Butler. Marty was a nice guy but a realist, and he suffered NO FOOLS in public office.

Jack Moran JR and his sister also had a brother named KEENAN Moran who I know very little about.

I know you are in Finance, and I was surprised because I thought you would be an attorney like your father? and grandfather?

After reading about your prep to "run again" for alderman I was intrigued if you were from the same lineage that I knew forty years ago... the MORAN clan - good folks, reliable in law whether ON THE BENCH or pleading before the BENCH.

I would be intrigued to have conversation to validate "my hunch".

Nonetheless,

May your 2024-2025 Christmas season bring joy and health to your family and May 2025 further your success in finance? as well as a public servant in Park Ridge.

I am BRIAN J MULCRONE who migrated from Lincoln Square Chicago neighborhood (Montrose and Western) to Niles IL with my parents JOE and BARB and my younger siblings Denise, Kevin and Deborah.(all of whom today live out of state in Ellicott City MD, Atlanta GA and Hartford CT.

Regards,

Brian J Mulcrone
