2023 Park Ridge Local Elections:
GGPR Endorsements
Go Green Park Ridge (GGPR) has considered local elections and has decided to provide endorsements where we feel that the candidate aligns well with GGPR’s mission. Not endorsing a candidate does not imply that GGPR deems them unqualified for the office or that they don't care about the environment. It just means that there wasn’t enough information for the members of GGPR to recommend endorsement. This is one of many lenses through which voters should view and consider candidates. Go Green Park Ridge hopes to work productively with all local elected officials to help our community become more sustainable.
For the 5th Ward race, GGPR endorses Joseph Steinfels. Joseph has been an active member and leader within GGPR. A specific example is Joseph’s organizing of the Forest Preserve cleanups that have united the community around an environmental project. Joseph understands Go Green Park Ridge’s mission and we are confident that he will consider sustainability as one of the priorities for the City Council.
For the 7th Ward race, GGPR endorses Mwende Lefler. Mwende has been a great partner for the new Sustainability Commission and has a proven track record supporting, promoting and implementing sustainability initiatives within the City.
For the 4 year seats on the Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 board, GGPR endorses Rachel Georgakis and Monica Milligan. Rachel and Monica are aligned with GGPR's vision of integrating sustainability into the operations of the District, rather than treating it as a separate, one-time project that relies on the efforts of individual volunteers, which can be subject to change over time.
For the 2 year seat on the Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 board, GGPR endorses Denise Pearl. Our endorsement is based upon our experience working with Denise in her role and her consistent support for sustainable initiatives within D64.
Finally, Go Green Park Ridge appreciates and respects all of the candidates for their dedication to public service. We wish all of them luck and would look forward to working with any and all as our elected officials.
