Red Chokeberry (Aronia arbutifolia)
Four seasons of beauty in one easy-care native shrub. Red Chokeberry opens clusters of white spring flowers for pollinators, holds glossy dark-green foliage all summer, then erupts in brilliant red-orange fall color. Its bright red berries persist deep into winter, providing crucial late-season food for songbirds and gorgeous color against the snow. Growing 6–10 feet tall with an upright habit, it's excellent for borders, hedges, rain gardens, and naturalized areas — and it tolerates both wet and dry soils. Plant in full sun to part shade; full sun gives the best berries and fall color. Sold in a #5 (5-gallon) container.
