Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum)
https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/bald-cypress/Elegant and surprisingly tough, the Bald Cypress is a deciduous conifer — soft, feathery needles emerge bright green in spring, then glow russet-orange before dropping each fall. Native to North America and fully hardy in Chicago-area winters, it thrives in conditions that defeat other trees: standing water, wet clay, compacted soil — yet it grows just as well in average yards. Its pyramidal form, fine-textured foliage, and attractive reddish, fibrous bark make it a standout specimen or rain-garden anchor. Matures to 50–70 feet. Plant in full sun. Sold in a #5 (5-gallon) container.
