Prairie Crabapple (Malus ioensis)
The Prairie Crabapple is the Midwest's own native flowering crabapple — and one of the most fragrant trees you can grow. In late spring, its branches are covered in perfumed pink-to-white blossoms that draw clouds of bees and other pollinators. Small green crabapples follow, feeding songbirds and wildlife into winter. This small ornamental tree matures to 15–25 feet with a picturesque, spreading form, making it ideal for front yards, pollinator gardens, and naturalized plantings. Unlike many ornamental crabapples, Malus ioensis is a true Illinois native that supports local ecosystems. Plant in full sun for the best bloom. Sold in 5 Gallon container.
