BENDER-SCHWICK YARD

1409 W. Talcott
Park on Lincoln or Knight
Dan and Kathie bought their home over 20 years ago and have been slowly turning the yard into a beautiful and inviting oasis. This has been well received by their neighbors. The front yard and parkway grass was removed and totally relandscaped in 2020 after their yard was torn up for sewer work. The parkway is planted with no-mow grass with perennials interspersed. The front yard is a large garden of native bushes and perennials where something new is blooming every few weeks. Everytime you see the yard it will look different!
The backyard oasis centers around a large koi pond which Dan built. It is surrounded by planters and a seating area with a fire pit. The size of the pond has grown over the years - as happens with most ponds. Next comes a small lawn where you can look back to get a view of the solar panels on their homes’ roof. Turn the corner and behind the garage in a sunny spot is a large vegetable garden which has been constantly improved upon over the years. Most recently the standing beds were put in to allow the plants along the fence to receive more sun.
Dan & Kathie are happy to share their garden with the community to inspire others!
