Go Green Park Ridge Endorsements - 2025

Go Green Park Ridge would like to announce our endorsements for the election on April 1st.  We make our endorsements based upon answers to our questionnaire and interactions and experiences shared by our members.  Then we put the endorsement decision to a vote at our Members’ meeting.  In order to provide transparency, we also want to share the rationale that has lead to the endorsement.

This endorsement reflects one aspect of the candidates’ position and/or experience and we encourage all voters to consider this among other considerations when voting.  In many cases we simply do not have enough information to make an endorsement recommendation but this does not mean that we think any unendorsed candidate is not suitable or capable of serving.
Go Green Park Ridge is and needs to remain a nonpartisan organization.  We do not think that reducing waste or air and water safety or concern for our shared environment are partisan issues and we look forward to collaborating with all of our elected leadership.
Below are our endorsements:

Mayor – Marty Maloney
This endorsement is based upon our years of experience working with Mayor Maloney.  During his tenure Marty Maloney has consistently been a supporter of sustainable initiatives in the community.  Some of the many eco-friendly accomplishments during this time include the creation of the Sustainability Task Force and then the Sustainability Commission that helps to drive environmentally-focused initiatives; adding permeable pavers in projects focused on reducing water runoff; supporting the Bike Plan for cyclists, sponsoring waste-free events and the signing of a composting franchise agreement with Collective Resource.

City Council 4th Ward – David Cartwright
This endorsement is based upon David’s responses to our questionnaire where he is supportive of investigating curb-side composting and is in support of a plastic bag ban, as well as member feedback.

City Council 6th Ward – Lauren Rapisand

This endorsement is based upon Lauren’s responses to our questionnaire where she is supportive of investigating curb-side composting and would like to learn more regarding a plastic bag ban, as well as member feedback.

D64 – Andrea Cline

Andrea’s endorsement is based upon her track record of active involvement in sustainability issues in Park Ridge, culminating in her current role as chair of the Park Ridge Sustainability Commission.   We are confident that she will continue to consider sustainability issues, concerns and opportunities as they arise in D64.

D64 – Beth Rankin
Beth’s endorsement is based upon her responses to our questionnaire as well as member feedback.  She illustrated detailed knowledge of specific opportunities that District 64 could implement to reduce its footprint and reduce the amount of material heading to landfills (e.g. plastic bottles and artificial turf fields).

D207 – Maureen Hartwig
Maureen’s endorsement is based upon her responses as well as members’ comments.  Maureen was previously recognized (2017) as a Go Green Park Ridge “Changemaker”  for her efforts to collect and recycle campaign signs. Once she discovered that the signs are not recycling-friendly, she decided to forgo them this election cycle.  Go Green Park Ridge is confident that Maureen will apply those same values while working with D207.

D207 – Kelly Foersterling
Kelly’s endorsement is based upon her responses to our questionnaire as well as members’ comments.  Kelly is supportive of D207’s intent to hire a part-time Sustainability Coordinator and is committed to eco-friendly materials such as permeable pavers and native landscaping.

D207 – Jin Lee
Jin’s endorsement is based upon his responses as well as members’ comments.  Jin is supportive of D207’s intent to hire a part-time Sustainability Coordinator and is excited about the potential curricula that can be created utilizing the Cline Farm property near Maine South – such as organic, chemical free food, clean energy production and projects.

D207 – Rebecca Heneghan
Rebecca’s endorsement is based upon her responses to our questionnaire as well as members’ comments. Rebecca is supportive of D207’s intent to hire a part-time Sustainability Coordinator, sees the value of compost education, is open to learning more about zero-waste models and extending sustainability initiatives beyond the district’s current scope.

We would like to thank Sal Raspanti, Kelly Muno, Phyllis Lubinski, Vicki Loise and Dana Jaime for participating in our process and taking the time to provide thoughtful responses to our questionnaires.

Finally – we want to thank everyone involved for investing your time and energy to help serve our community. We respect the commitments that you are all willing to make.  We, and Park Ridge, are better off when more people get involved in our community.
