Jo Ellen and Mike moved into their home in 2011 and inherited overgrown landscaping, a small pond in back and a standing water problem. They hired Carol Becker with Sage Advice to design and install a native plant garden to help reduce costs of planting annuals and maintenance involved with traditional gardening. Many types of perennial native plants and native bushes are found throughout the yard giving year round interest as the flowers take turns blooming from spring to fall. A large shady rain garden was also created in the rear to take care of standing water. The pond with a waterfall was expanded by Mike as well.
Recently Mike has been vegetable gardening. He calls the gardens ‘salsa gardens’ with tomatoes for Jo Ellen and peppers for himself. He is even trying lemon and lime trees this year. A large deck for entertaining overlooks the yard and pond.
